Shaggin’ in the Rain

Let’s face it, no one likes to walk around with rain and not having something to protect from it. So this season, ladies and gentleman we finally have a rain trend (legendary, yes). You can wear PVC anytime, anywhere without letting go your favourite shaggy faux fur coat because now… ‘wait for it’… we can use a statement waterproof piece to keep it dry & warm.

So this is it: influencers, stylists, editors and street style icons decided to give a twist to rain accessories and deliver it in Paris, New York, Milano and London streets as the new biggest trend of the year and this is a thing that is going to shake up our closets and make our fall/winter time much easier in 2018. Whatever your choice of accessory or clothing is, everyone will be able to see your outfit underneath.

So of course we did use umbrellas before, but now we’ll be using it as pure fashionistas. The umbrella is a trending accessory as all PVC and clear accessories are, do not go out this winter without the ‘legs for days’ Balmain boots nor the clear Chanel tote bag that Veronika Heilbrunner introduced at New York Fashion Week street style.

The next big thing besides waterproof accessories and trenches is the Shaggy coat, of course. How could we live without one? Mostly seen as too chunky and lounge or bed style, the shaggy coat has turned into a must have garment to put into our closets and street stylers could not take them off at the past fashion weeks. And because we want to wear them all the time but also wanna be dry under the rain, let us buy a nice provocative umbrella or a big PVC hat to protect ourselves (and the shag) from the showers.

The good thing about the shaggy coat? You can have it in any colour, from Tibi’s neon yellow to Fendi’s Men vintage renewed style, and the best part is they are all faux so let us give a round of applause to all designers and influencers that support the faux fur movement.

So this was the season of the shaggy coat, one that feels like a hug and lets you hide under it without having to give too many explanations on your outfit of the day. So, ‘Shaggy me Baby’ will be my first saying in the morning when I leave home to face a cold day and need my shaggy faux fur to feel hugged and comfy, before grabbing my new big statement umbrella carrying it like if it was the ultimate new fashion accessory in the world.
